Daily Khabra, Chandigarh. Punjab News: Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce, Investment Promotion, Local Bodies and Power, Sanjeev Arora, today announced the development of a state-of-the-art multi-purpose Exhibition and Convention Centre (ECC) in Mohali, near Palksha University and the Infosys campus in Sector 83. This is a visible testimony to Punjab’s rapid emergence as a hub of investment, infrastructure, and global business opportunities.

Minister Sanjeev Arora said, “This landmark initiative, being undertaken under the visionary leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, National Convenor, and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, reflects the Punjab Government’s commitment to making Punjab a preferred destination for investment and international events.” Giving more details of the project, he said that the convention centre will be developed under the public-private partnership model on an area of ​​approximately 14 acres, right in the heart of Mohali IT City.

The concession period for the project is 15 years.

The project, estimated to cost approximately ₹250 crore, will be developed by Execon Events Media Solutions Ltd. He further stated that the concession period for the project will be 15 years. “The project will build a state-of-the-art convention center equipped with world-class infrastructure and facilities to host large-scale national and international events,” the minister said.

He stated that the project will be completed in two phases. The first phase is targeted to be completed by December 31, 2026, and the second phase by December 31, 2027. Elaborating on the infrastructure, the Minister stated that the ECC will include large-span column-free exhibition halls, including two large halls measuring approximately 40,000 square feet and 15,000 square feet, along with a retail, food, and beverage zone spanning approximately 15,000 square feet, and parking for approximately 1,000 vehicles. He further stated that the facility will also include world-class landscaped public spaces and open public areas for events.

Minister Sanjeev Arora said, “The ECC will serve as a flexible, multi-functional space capable of hosting conferences and conventions with 5,000 to 10,000 delegates, approximately 20,000 square feet of meeting area to accommodate 2,000 people, trade fairs and exhibitions with 200 to 500 booths, corporate events with 1,000 to 10,000 audiences, cultural and variety events with 1,000 to 10,000 people, and social events with up to 15,000 people.”

Green 5-Star Sustainable Design Principles to be adopted

Emphasising on modern design and sustainability, he said the facility will adopt advanced column-free structural systems, efficient traffic circulation and logistics planning, integration of modern MEP, AV, IT systems, adherence to NBC standards, fire safety and accessibility standards and Green 5-Star Sustainable Design principles.

Minister Sanjeev Arora said, “This convention and exhibition center will be a game-changing project for Punjab. It will significantly enhance our ability to host global events, attract investment, and create large-scale employment. Mohali is rapidly emerging as a modern city and technology hub, and such world-class infrastructure will further accelerate its growth.”

Expected to create employment opportunities

Highlighting the economic impact, he said the project is expected to generate between 15,000 and 25,000 jobs in the first five years, while also boosting tourism, hospitality and allied sectors, strengthening Punjab’s position as a leading MICE destination.

Minister Sanjeev Arora further said, “This project is in perfect alignment with the Punjab Government’s broader vision of developing Mohali as a 21st century IT and services hub, enhancing ease of doing business, strengthening the investor ecosystem and creating world-class infrastructure to support global collaborations and events.”
